About the Founders

Sean & Stacy Kelley share an attraction to forging opportunities for creative innovation. Sean and Stacy also run graphic design + branding studio Mother Sponge, based in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego. Their clients include breweries, restaurants, and artisan producers.

Southern California natives, the two met in Seattle in 2002; then spent a few years entranced by the food and design scene of San Francisco before moving to San Diego in 2006. At that point they joined forces with fellow creatives to launch Sanctuary143 in 2007, which grew into Set & Drift in 2009.

Set & Drift curates art and design exhibitions and events. We advocate interdisciplinary exchange and bring together a diverse network of international artists, designers, and craftsmen.

We are modern storytellers. We create scenarios to showcase the ideas and work of creatives through nontraditional formats and venues. Blurring established boundaries, we use the many curious expressions of art and design to introduce something unexpected into the everyday experience. We believe these collaborations spark the conversations that drive creative experimentation and innovation.

The name Set & Drift originates from terms for the speed and direction of the current under a sailing ship. We navigate the cultural landscape, in search of uncharted territories.

Set & Drift has collaborated with 75+ independent businesses and organizations to date, along with a host of patrons — creative leaders in San Diego and beyond.

Set & Drift is currently operating out of The Bakery in Barrio Logan, California.
