No Tan Lines 6.15.13

It has arrived… LWP Group‘s latest residential project — Community @ Joy Building in North Park — is complete and will be unveiled with another of their signature celebrations, as they temporarily turn over the apartments to a band of local creatives. This Saturday, Yeller presents No Tan Lines: a day of festivities featuring installations by some of San Diego’s finest artists, craftsmen, and purveyors of food and beverage.

We can’t help but love this event format, with rooms open to total creative takeover for your meandering pleasure. It was our honor to present CONSPIRE at Community @ the Martin Building in 2009, with Sezio producing Collide at the recently unveiled Community @ Carnegie last year. They’re always a good time, and some of our favorite artists and craftsmen are representing at this year’s event, so be sure to drop by and check it out!

Location: 4484 Illinois Street // San Diego, Calif.

Hours: 1-5 pm

Check out the creative lineup here.

Review: Liquidation Sale

Photo by Carly Ealey (full photo set of the event here)

Much gratitude to Sezio for the review and insightful documentation of this month’s Liquidation Sale hosted by Set & Drift here at The Bakery!

Pop Zen and a Fort with The Vision at The Bakery in Barrio. Fear not, folks, this isn’t 2012. What may sound like an apocalyptic nursery tale was in fact Set & Drift’s latest collaborative event, presenting the work of Keikichi Honna and Wes Bruce, and including a performance by The Vision of a Dying World, hosted at The Bakery on April 3. This event marked The Bakery’s gallery debut… <more>

Update: Friday, April 23rd (that’s today, folks!) we’re opening up The Bakery to Wes Bruce to show the fort one last time before it’s dismantled. Drop by and get a tour with the artist himself.

The Boat House Show

Did you catch Sezio’s show at the Boat House? We were delighted to partake as artists in this one-night takeover, and we were in quite good company too. Here are some shots of our eucalyptus bearded piano man – we hope you enjoyed him. Peep some more event pics including works by Mike Maxwell, Niko, Exist 1981, Tocayo, and so many more at Flickr. Thanks to Mr. Brian Deppe for the photos!
