If we could have taken you with us in our pockets to Venice, we might have taken you to this exhibit: Japanese Graphic Design, 100 Posters 2001-2010. We happened upon this excellent little exhibit tucked away in St. Mark’s Gallery, amongst the Architecture Biennale going on throughout the city.
Hosted by the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, the exhibit included 100 Japanese advertising posters, selected from amongst the thousands of works submitted each year for the most prestigious awards. These 100 were selected by a committee made up of two contemporary masters of graphic art, Kazumasa Nagai and Shin Matsunaga, in collaboration with the International Hokusai Research Centre.
